1 Description It occurs as a colourless, mobile liquid having a very slight odor.

3 Solubility It is soluble in acetone, in castor oil, in chloroform, in cottonseed oil, in ethyl acetate, in alcohol and in mineral oil; insoluble in water, in glycerin and in propylene glycol.
4 Residue on Ignition Not more than 0.1%.
5 Specific gravity Between 0.850–0.855.
6 Refractive Index Between 1.435–1.438.
7 Acid Value Not more than 1.
8 Iodine Value Not more than 1.
9 Saponification Value Between 183-193.
10 Assay Not less than 90.0%.
